That's my fear.  This is compounded by the fact that Ubuntu won't let me log in as root to change the ownerships.  I can only sudo as regular user -- which means that my regular user account must be working. :-P

I got it working for Firefox because the group 'users' is 100 on both distros, and that is enough for Firefox.  

Now, if I can do the same thing with documents and with sharing the mail directory.
