I think the issue is that Debian is prepared:

  jeff@krypton:jeff $ apt-cache search phobos
  phobos-gnome - phobos rendering library - GNOME2 Version
  xmars - show a rotating mars on your X root window
  xphobos - render images of phobos
  xphobos-ring - render images of phobos with simulated tidal force destruction
