[PLUG] Digital USB peripherals under linux, such as a wheel/pedal set

For Christmas, I was given a LogitechR FormulaT Force GP
steering wheel/pedal set. According to Logitech's site, their analog
wheels work under linux (and use the game port) but digital
ones like this are Windows-only, requiring special software.

However, I read elsewhere that this device is plug & play
with the latest versions of OSX, which makes me think there's
a possibility of getting it to work under linux.

There used to be a great linux hardware compatibility database
online but I'm having trouble finding it.

I've done a bunch of googling and posted a question on a Logitech
fan site, but have not yet come up with anything and thought
I'd ask here.
