Drexel's undergraduate computer science student organization is setting up a Windows vs Linux debate. Below is the announcement. If anyone is interested in being the linux rep, please respond off-list to Anthony (below) with cc to me. Note that this is in two weeks, Thursday 10 Feb. I declined because I am so far removed from the Windows world that I thought I would likely be unable to respond to some things out of sheer unfamiliarity. Again, please reply to me and Anthony off-list. Thanks in advance. -Jeff ----- Forwarded message from Anthony Costantino <amc29@drexel.edu> ----- Date: Tue, 25 Jan 2005 04:06:09 -0500 From: Anthony Costantino <amc29@drexel.edu> Subject: Linux Supporter for MCS Society Debate To: 'Jeff Abrahamson' <jeffa@cs.drexel.edu> X-Mailer: Microsoft Office Outlook, Build 11.0.6353 [29 lines, 245 words, 1349 characters] Top characters: etoainsr Jeff, The MCS Society has plans this term on February 10 to have a Linux vs. Microsoft debate. We feel that this would be of interest to computer science students as something hopefully both fun and informational. We contacted our Microsoft representative who was willing to debate someone (within some as-not-yet defined guidelines). However, we have been having a difficult time securing a champion of Linux who would be knowledgeable enough to debate the Microsoft rep. So, I did some searching and found that you are a member of PLUG and have given talks for them. Would you be interested in being our Linux supporter for this debate? We are willing to work with you if you, too, want some guidelines to be enforced. We also want to set up at least a starting agenda of topics to be debated so that each debater has time to prepare. At the same time, we do not want it completely scripted. We would love to have you and I think it adds a little bit if someone from Drexel such as yourself joined. As we do with all grad students who give their time to help the society, we would treat you to dinner after the debate or at some time in the future, if you would like. Hopefully, you will be able to accept our invitation. However, if you are unable, can you recommend anyone else who may be a good person to ask? Thanks.
