There was one version, I think about 5 years ago or more, that simply failed to look at the list of messages it had already responded to -- i.e. it's database was broken ... yes, a bug, but one which did not prevent the unpatched version from being distributed by at least one major Unix vendor, who failed to patch it for almost 2 years!

Most? many? some? mailing list programs include a "Precedence: bulk" header which a reputable vacation program will ignore.

The PLUG list does not include a "Precedence: bulk: header, perhaps it should.
