Interesting -- the From: address ( of the message quoted above subscribed to PLUG this morning just a few minutes before the post, apparently for the sole purpose of spamming. I considered the possibility that this was a legitimate message, however that seems rather unlikely given the return address and the Chinese IP address.

Mar 22 08:44:34 2005 (24076) plug: pending Li Zhou <>
Mar 22 08:45:32 2005 (24247) plug: new "" <Li Zhou>, via web confirmation
Mar 22 08:50:36 2005 (22951) post to plug from, size=2361, message-id=<>, success

If this happens repeatedly, perhaps we'll need to moderate posts from new
subscribers for a period of time, although limitations of mailman may make
that a difficult policy to implement.

I just had a short discussion with said subscriber. I think this one is alright. I informed the person that the post might be taken negatively and that contacting the list owners first about such a post is a good idea.
