[PLUG] Anyone using QEMU?

I've read about QEMU (http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/) on Slashdot and wanted to try to use it so that I can run linux simultaneously with Windows (2000 Server) here at work.

I downloaded and installed the current windows binary from here:
http://www.freeoszoo.org/download.php
along with their linux.img image file.

However, when I follow the directions and run "qemu linux.img" I just get another console window for a tiny fraction of a second (much too fast to read anything), then nothing. I've also tried downloading the latest knoppix .iso and using that as the boot image, with the same result.

Anyone using QEMU successfully with windows as the host OS?
