I just discovered cacaview, a terminal-based graphics viewer.
Probably there's better (I saw a version of xine once that had been
linked against aalib), but it's very nice for checking images in mutt
without X.

(Why?  On sending, it's nice to verify I grabbed the right thing.  On
receiving, it's nice to know it's worth scp'ing to a local machine if
bandwidth is low.)
