[PLUG] very slow USB access to SD card


I've been using an SD card to play MP3s on a pda, but as of last week, I
have been having problems transferring songs from my Gentoo Linux pc to
the SD card. I only get 64K/s during copies from the hard drive to the
card. Also (and possibly unrelated), my PDA won't sync unless I manually
set permissions on the usb device node after pressing the sync button.

Here is some information about my setup from dmesg:
