uptimed (http://freshmeat.net/projects/uptimed) can be handy for tracking
uptime and kernel versions over time, if you're in to that kind of thing.
I also like using it as a history of when a machine has been powered on vs
dormant, which is useful when trying to determine how long a power failure
lasted (http://michael.toren.net/code/tmp/lastshutdown).
