You can't discount the value of having an education.... However, with that said, its a bit unreasonable to require a Bachelor's degree when the jobs starting pay scale is $12/hr. DCCC might argue that the low pay is because the job brings great benefits and job security. Sometimes a job in education sector can be depended upon as being a "job-for-life" depending on the department. Same thing goes with certain government jobs. An old roommate of mine works for the NSA as a java programmer. He can make twice his salary in public sector, but the NSA comes with really good job security. -John On Fri, 9 Dec 2005 schwepes@netaxs.com wrote: > Degrees have a bad habit of being required so that personel offices can > get rid of applications without thought. > bs > > > On Thu, 8 Dec 2005, gyoza@comcast.net wrote: > > > I can't believe such jobs require a degree. > > > > > > John Sladek wrote: > > > > >I saw this @ school last night and I know there has been a lot of talk > > >about jobs lately on this list so I figured I'd throw this into the mix. > > >Looks like it was originally posted on Nov 2nd so I am not sure if the > > >position were filled but if they hired me as their web programmer that > > >is the first thing I would remove. > > > > > >http://www.dccc.edu/hr/detail_jobs?printit=356 > > > > > > > > > > > ___________________________________________________________________________ > > Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org > > Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce > > General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug > > > ___________________________________________________________________________ > Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org > Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce > General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug > ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
