Unless you depend on NFS filesystems for compilation, etc. or you are using hostbased authentication in OpenSSH or your timing crystal is really off or... you are anal retentive. You might want to check out the default settings provided with Redhat. They also don't turn on ntp by *default*, but they have a reasonable template which can easily be edited, and you just chkconfig ntpd on for future boot-time startup, and service ntpd start to start it up the very first time.
