Re: [PLUG] slackware part2

can i get a bit more "granular" re slackware

the school has new "dells", big hd, 256 ram.
slackware 10.2 right?
are there server and workstation installs like other distros?
fedora installs /, /boot, and swap. i add /home and /windows (fat32)
just tried suse 10. installed / only, with /home and /boot on / partition.
how about slackware?

my only available home machine, P3 800MHz, ASUS CUS L2 motherboard,
has 128mb ram. OK? could add 128 i guess.
potential problem ...
have 3dfx voodoo 4500 agp video card ... was hot at the time, co disappeared.
any problem?

appreciate you time and expertise.

ron

slack 10 is 2.4 kernel? isnt that dated?
how about slack 10.2?

Umm.. huh?

I’ve been using slackware since 3.4 I have a couple 7.1 machines and about 5 10.2 machines. I started off with slackware, and like the old saying “if its not broke don’t try to fix it” so why go with something else.

Also looking at bugtrac/securityfocus stats  redhat/mandrake are the prime targets for script kiddies
