Hi: It was stated last night at the PLUG meeting that Microsoft produces patents at the rate of 1100 per day. I couldn't believe that figure, so I did some googling over lunch today: "Patent applications are received at the rate of over 350,000 per year." http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/pac/doc/general/#uspto (1100 x 365 > 350000, and those are just *applications*) "The USPTO issued 151,079 utility patents in fiscal year 2005." http://communitydispatch.com/artman/publish/article_3845.shtml "During the past two years alone, according to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's online search server, Microsoft has received about 1,000 patents, or an average of 10 a week."
