I have the better part of a 1000 foot spool of cat *4* cable. Free to a good home. Note that you probably want cat 5 or even 6 if you are running 100 mbps ethernet. Cat 3 (so also cat 4) is fine for 10 mbps, though, or probably for short runs with low interference for 100 mbps if you're real flexible. Cat 4 is more than enough for POTS, too.
