[PLUG] verifying a filespace

Title: verifying a filespace

We had a "little" system crash this am.

When we tried to reboot, it would hang at "setting host name....", then there would have been no drive activity
So...tried to install RH 8.0 as an upgrade (from 7.2) thinking there was a coruption somewhere, it got stuck
almost immediately after "this is your last chance to turn back..."

So...I'm thinking either the main system drive maybe is bad, or the motherboard's drive controller.

We purchased an intel system to setup as a temporary system until we decide what we are going to do,
in the mean time, I'm trying to pull any old data off the old drive.

I put it in a USB enclosure, and powered up another 8.0 RH system I just setup, and I can see and mount
all the filesystem's.

Is "e2fsck -c -c /dev/xxxx" the best way to scan for bad blocks on each filespace (without erasing) ?
