Title: verifying a filespace We had a "little" system crash this am. When we tried to reboot, it would hang at "setting host name....", then there would have been no drive activity
So...I'm thinking either the main system drive maybe is bad, or the motherboard's drive controller. We purchased an intel system to setup as a temporary system until we decide what we are going to do,
I put it in a USB enclosure, and powered up another 8.0 RH system I just setup, and I can see and mount
Is "e2fsck -c -c /dev/xxxx" the best way to scan for bad blocks on each filespace (without erasing) ? George George Gallen
