I haven't actually got around to building a new box myself yet, but when I'm dreaming about it www.tomshardware.com is a great site for information and reviews on both old and new components (motherboards, cases and everything else). They also have a section specifically aimed at building your own box. And this plan looks like it would give you a pretty cool machine (in both senses), though it might not be as small as you're looking for: http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/06/12/your_diy_gaming_rig_for_720/ The site also reviews and recommends lots of MiniATX and MicroATX cases that might be more appropriate for your requirements.
