This is not just a 2.4 vs. 2.6 issue. One of my laptops (Kubuntu Dapper) does this on reboots. Sometimes the Ethernet comes up as eth2 and the Wifi as eth3, and sometimes it's the other way around. No idea what happened to eth0 and eth1. Most annoying, because they are set up differently, and sometimes the WiFi picks up a neighbor's unsecured access point (which broadcasts the station id) rather than my own... -- Bhaskar On 9/8/06, W.
