Yeah I've done all that. I've tried 4 different terminals. Some do tabs but don't display curses well. Some have tabs and do curses but you can't launch any Mac OS apps from them because they run from X11 (why I need X to run a terminal??) and don't have proper paths or something. I've got FF set to download into a separate folder, but what I'm talking about is not handled by downloads. On any other system, the PDFs would open inside a browser plugin - but on the mac it downloads to the desktop and launches in Preview, even though I have Acrobat 8 installed. I've got virtue, but it's buggy and not well configured. Windows pop-up in other desktops with no notification that they are there. All of these issues are probably fixable if I had the time/desire to really fix them. But I'm comfortable in Linux and know how to be productive in it quickly. It has the apps I need. I don't want to switch OSs any more. Gosh. I sound like a windows user switching to linux. Give iTerm a try. It is a terminal app that lets you have tabs. I think the PDF thing is a setting in the browser. Virtue is a program that lets you have multiple desktops but I don't particularly like the way it handles applications on the different desktops.
