Did they mention how to go about installing XP if you have a Vista license? What media do you need and what key can you use? ----- Original Message ----- From: jeff <jeffv@op.net> To: Philadelphia Linux User's Group Discussion List <plug@lists.phillylinux.org> Sent: Wednesday, July 11, 2007 7:23:35 PM GMT-0500 Subject: [PLUG] Dell linux As long as we're discussing this, I spoke to Dell today. Here are some random facts (for corporate clients).... * XP should be available til the end of the year * per the excellent suggestion, you can purchase lotsa XP licenses before then * XP licenses will have to pay to downgrade to Vista; Vista licenses cover the upgrade to XP * There are no plans to offer corporate linux anywhere on the horizon. * Dell cannot sell anything but a server w/o an OS. Period. If you want to install linux, you still have to pay the MS Tax. * They listen to consumers, hence the Ubuntu pc's. Perhaps if businesses made some noise... It did not sound like Vista was a big seller [my impression]. -=-=- ...
