I will most certainly include and reference RUTE, it looks to be a great resource. but i'm basically putting together a "cheat sheet appendix" and the RUTE is simply too much information at once for someone, especially someone anxious to learn linux

so far, i have:

the root account (warnings on being root, etc.)
permissions
device naming conventions in linux
navigating the CLI (intro to things like cd, ls, cp, mv, rm(dir), cat, >, touch, opening files in nano for editing, etc.)

and after that i'm stuck. any other ideas?
