so I have this ThinkPad 600E that I've successfully installed a
Pentium III into.  two issues:

1.) L2 cache has to be disabled in the BIOS (in order to avoid an
error), but then re-enabled after POST (either in GRUB or the Linux
kernel; preferably GRUB)

2.) GenKernel sees the CPU as still a Pentium II, but I think this
might be a matter of re-compiling GenKernel (although I would think
GenKernel would recognize the change).


if anyone familiar with GRUB hacking can make sense of what was
changed and how to port it up to a current build, let me know.
