LVM writes header information with volume group/logical volume info
onto each physical disk. Among other things this makes it difficult
to accidentally overwrite a disk in use by another VG with pvcreate
or, in this case, prevents catastrophe when /dev/sd? gets shuffled due
to a reconfiguration of the storage devices.
LVM should read this information and activate the correct devices for
each Volume Group at the next boot.
