So I've now got this 6 disc scsi drive array that I plan to set up as a Raid 5 array, but the problem I'm having is with Ubuntu. I added my Scsi card and plugged the drives in and everything boots great, but Ubuntu has now re-ordered my drives! /dev/sda (sata drive) is now /dev/sdi, /dev/sdb is now /dev/sdg, and /dev/sdc is now /dev/sdh. The drives from the scsi array are now /dev/sda to /dev/sdf. It all still boots and works fine, but my concern is if I ever add drives in the future (USB or SCSI) that it could reorder the drives in the scsi array. Would that cause any trouble for the raid software? is there a way to prevent it? I'm holding off building the array until I figure this out, so replies are appreciated! :) Thanks Marc ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
