Thanks, Alex. It's not just about free / open source software, it is also very much about Linux. The software stack of VistA on GT.M on Linux is a complete free / open source healthcare information system software stack, including a comprehensive and widely used electronic health record. You can go to http://sourceforge.net/projects/worldvista and download a QEMU software appliance of VistA on GT.M on DSL, you can download a live CD (recent ones are based on DSL, some older ones are based on Knoppix, and an experimental live CD based on Oralux to evaluate the feasibility of a free / open source healthcare information system software stack for the visually impaired). You can also get a tarball of VistA bundled with GT.M to run on your favorite Linux. WorldVistA (http://worldvista.org) has taken a flavor of VistA through certification by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (http://cchit.org). This WorldVistA EHR is the only open source software (combination of public domain and GPL) to be so certified. In the healthcare world, this is a big deal. Anyone who is interested, write to me off list. Full disclosure: for my "day job", I manage GT.M, and am actually trying to execute a business strategy based on software licensed under GPL. [No, it's not easy trying to make money with open source.] Regards -- Bhaskar On Dec 11, 2007 5:32 PM, Alex Launi <alex.launi@gmail.com> wrote: > That's about open-source, that's totally legit.
