SIP with NAT can be an enormous pain, and STUN is really just a bandaid...

Since you're running Asterisk, I'd suggest you use an iax2-based
softphone, like the free version of zoiper.  Crack open udp/4569 and
forward appropriately on your home network and you're done.  iax2 is
very nat friendly.
