Yes, I did that for python-gtk & python-gtk developer, as well as python-sqlite.

What do people think about the One-Click deal? I've just seen it with Suse but I'm sure it's on other distro's. Do you think it helps make Linux more user friendly or just a gimmick.

Since you are on 10.3 you should be able to use the new 'One-Click'
install, which should get the depency stuff for you...
