I'm a Palm fan, and a BB administrator.  IMO the best reason to use a BB is 
the BES/BPS administration server.  Regardless of what you think of the BB 
UI, the administration server has no rival in the PDA-phone world.

I run it in a Windows Server 2003 VM and it works fine virtualized.

Don't futz with sendmail unless BES/BPS is out of the question for you.
