[PLUG] Non-linux loobpack weirdness, 127.0.0.2 does not responds

All,
RFC 3330 states:
127.0.0.0/8 - This block is assigned for use as the Internet host
loopback address. A datagram sent by a higher level protocol to an
address anywhere within this block should loop back inside the host.
This is ordinarily implemented using only 127.0.0.1/32 for loopback,
but no addresses within this block should ever appear on any network
anywhere [RFC1700, page 5].
On a Linux machine, pinging 127.0.0.2 will reach the localhost host and respond.  On a Solaris 9 and AIX machine this does not happen.  The Solaris 9 routing table had a bad entry,
127.0.0.1            127.0.0.1            UH        5 725905  lo0
I added
127.0.0.0            127.0.0.1            U         1      0  lo0
, but that didn't fix the problem.  I am about at add 127.0.0.2 to lo0 to see if that makes a difference.  Does anyone have a similar experience?   Many years ago I worked on Solaris machines and remember doing something for the loopback but I can't remember what and Google searches haven't turned up what I am looking for.

thanks,
Amul
