I have 4.5 gigs of ram and am not using anywhere near that.  It is definitely a processing problem.  I have been looking at the system monitor.

I'm far from an expert on this. But I would rather see you drop back a version of Ubuntu or 2. Are you eating up the memory?

Don't worry, other people will respond. As for OSS I would say no. The author states in the manual to use OSS only as a last resort.
