Please forgive me... I have committed the sin of trying to update Ubuntu. It downloads and unpacks, then the errors start. Googling seems to point to a possible read-only issue, which might also explain why Firefox won't let me dl anything (saves to /tmp) and my external usb drive won't mount. `mount' indicates [rw, errors: read only] for the system partition. when I reboot, it comes up with errors, which I fsck and reboot. No complaints til I'm already in the system. Suggestions? Thanks.
