[PLUG] linux sys admin question

I have a user that I've changed to have a primary group of "www-data":

  usermod -g www-data devel

When the user devel creates a new file, the group of that file is not www-data
but is instead the group devel (matches user name).

How do I stop that and make it so that user created files have the correct group?

Eric
