re: being a linux n00b, I strongly endorse using at least some space
on that 1 TB HD (it seems big now, but Windows 8 will probably use 3/4
of it just for system files) to set up a virtual Windows XP machine
using Virtual Box. I did that on my 64 bit Ubuntu box, and was able to
completely retire my remaining Windows PC, since I can literally do
everything on the virtual Windows PC that I used to do on the real
one.
