Re: [PLUG] ISP's (OT)

Juien,

I went through the same pros/cons for my small business.  Had SDSL
but wanted faster up speeds, and cheaper.  My solution was to move
my server to the cloud, instead of insisting on a faster up speed
from my physical location.  I now have a virtual server at Amazon
AWS for MUCH less cost per month and MUCH faster speeds.

Total cost is about $32/month, and I was able get rid of the
physical server, which I was about about to upgrade, stop buying
new UPS every couple years when the battery died, and not worry
about up speed at all.  My users can access my servers at Amazon
speeds.  The server is a Linux box where I have root access, so I
still have full control over it.

I'll be glad to give more info, here or via e-mail.

Everyone,

Thanks for all the feedback.

Someone mentioned that Comcast does provide fiber service, I
forgot about that, it's 100 Mbps for about $2500/month.  A little
pricey for a small shop.

Anyway, as we're a smallish shop, about 30 users, email, browsing,
not running any web servers.  I figure we can withstand a little downtime
a few times a year.

So, I'm still thinking.
