After installing the proprietary ATI driver, you will want to run
something like this command to setup your displays:
# aticonfig --initial=dual-head --desktop-setup=horizontal \
--screen-layout=left --xinerama=on \
--resolution=1,1600x1200 --resolution=0,1920x1200

Of course, you want to substitute in your own monitor resolutions.
