Check whether / is mounted read-write or read-only.

A customer called me about his VPS web server - appears to be out of disk space.

BUT...
df -h
Filesystem      ÂSize ÂUsed Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/simfs       49G  24G  26G Â49% /
tmpfs         500M  48K Â500M  1% /var/run
tmpfs         500M   0 Â500M  0% /var/lock
/dev/simfs       49G  24G  26G Â49% /dev/.static/dev
udev         Â500M   0 Â500M  0% /dev
tmpfs         500M   0 Â500M  0% /dev/shm
tmpfs         500M  48K Â500M  1% /var/run
tmpfs         500M   0 Â500M  0% /var/lock

so 26 G left on /

when I, as root try to create a file:

touch testfile
touch: cannot touch `testfile': Disk quota exceeded

WhAt! quota? - I have none as far as I know.

grep 'quota' /proc/mounts
returns nothing.

Any clues are accepted gratefully... the sooner the better.
Still Google-ing and spelunking through the logs.

TIA
Eric
