Re: [PLUG] Walt's presentation on taskwarrior

Hrmmm - I didn't see this presentation you speak of but I've been messing with taskwarrior and was just thinking about the best way to get to it from my Droid. I did a quick search and saw there was someone trying to make an application (http://taskwarrior.org/news/show/66) but nothing seems to be up and running yet. I was thinking maybe I could write a script to do a sync process between the todo.txt app (which uses plaintext files and dropbox) and my local taskwarrior installation.

I do like your email idea though - if you don't mind, let me know how it turns out.

Walt's presentation about taskwarrior on Wednesday intrigued me so I'm starting
to use it.  First, it really does work very very well with dropbox.
Second: I like the shell and calendar commands.

I edited the .taskrc file to use the light-256 theme... better for my tired eyes
than the default.  The task files are actually in /usr/share/doc/task - not
/usr/local/share/doc/task

Rather than use the default holidays file (which is limited to 2011) I copied it
to my .task directory, edited it, and then include it from there.  My version is
below and includes 2012 and 2013.  If you don't specify the year in the name the
last years dates override all the earlier years dates.  Oh, and I added Easter
and Halloween.  Not sure about Patriot's day but I included it since it was in
the 2011 file.

I am thinking of writing an email processing utility that will receive emails to
a special email address and/or with a special passphrase and a task command in
the body.  For example:
abracadabra task add project:plug due:tomorrow volunteer to speak at plug

It could work in reverse by receiving a command and replying with an email.
"task list" comes to mind.  I could even automatically email that list to myself
every day.  Might actually replace RTM (Remember The Milk).

That would greatly ease the integration with my smart phone.  I'll post the
progress I make with this to the PLUG list if anyone is interested.

Geez, I guess I should get back to /real/ work rather than tweaking taskwarrior :-)
