Hi, all. Sounds like these types of posts are OK according to the mailing list rules, so here goes: I just listed a position for a junior sysadmin at the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia, PA. We're looking for someone who's willing to learn and has some experience in an academic computing environment. SUMMARY: Routine management of data backup and archive systems including copying and restoring files and managing tape libraries. Acquisition and installation of scientific software on Linux and other computational environments. Support and troubleshooting of scientific applications. Scientific workstation administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, and automation. Write technical and end-user documentation of applications and environment. Assist in the planning and implementation of hardware and software projects. Assist in automation of existing system administration processes. Work with Cancer Center Core facilities’ (e.g., Bioinformatics, Genomics and Proteomics) scientists in supporting their scientific computing and data storage requirements.
