[PLUG] ub 10 switch from kde to gnome

using ubuntu 10 with kde
is it therefore recommended to get rid of kde?
i need a how to for removing kde and installing gnome

My understanding is that *one guy* who used to be 
allowed/encouraged/something to work on Kubunut during work hours now 
has to do other stuff instead, and there is no more "official" Canonical 
support.
