That stuff was from me, and I don't run any AD. I probably should have been more clear about my environment. I have Windows for $WORK only, but all data and most activity is on Linux, shared via Samba workgroup. There may be a better way to sync time for the 2 Windows machines, but since what I have has worked for me since forever I see no need to change it. Certainly AD would be massive overkill and pain.
Anyway, glad Art figured it out.
