It's a longish walk from Market East, especially if the weather's anything like it was last year.
Anyone riding Septa Regional Rail up and back, can purchase an Independence Pass ($11 for one individual, $28 for a family consisting of no more than two adults but up to five people, meaning of course up to 3 children) which will allow the riders to take buses north on 7th ST and back South on 8th ST to relatively close to the event site. A word of warning though, normally if you purchase an independence pass on the train, you get a ticket stub which is good on all regional rail lines except those to or from New Jersey after 9:30 AM weekdays, but to ride the bus or subway, you have to turn in your stub for a regular independence pass. There is at least one ticket office open which will do the exchange at Market East during normal business hours. Anyone with a trailpass or transpass on weekends can ride any Septa vehicle.
