[PLUG] Home automation |
Hi everyone,I'm looking into building a home automation system, with surveillance sensors and temperature control. I found Bruce Momjian's presentation that has some interesting links: http://momjian.us/main/presentations/general.html#automation
http://www.x10.com/ has a lot of different equipments:* the AirSight Wireless IP cameras are rather cheap compared to the competition. Does anyone on the list have experience with them ? * The whole security systems at $150 is also super cheap compared to what I've seen (usually around $1000 + monthly fee) * They have transceivers and thermostat systems, but I'm not sure what would work with Linux, and how. * I couldn't find good sensors for temperature and humidity. Anyone has good references for that?
I would like to control the cameras and thermostats from a linux box inside the house, with open source software, and use the internet connection to forward me alerts. The alarm system can be autonomous and bypass the linux server. I am not particularly interested in controlling the coffee machine and the lights. For now :)
Anyone has experience building such a system ?
