There are many small Android/Linux Pc's available in the 40-70 dollar range. I've used a couple before for a home in Panama. They range in size from that of a BIC lighter to a small jewelery case. Usually have HDMI output. With as fast as Electronics change the one I used is no longer available But Here's a video of the concept on a newer one from the same Mfg. the video shows Android but there linux versions like Puppy that will give you an entire Unbuntu Repository supported desktop experience in a 128 MB pkg

In '08 I went to Microcenter in St. David's and one of the associates
helped me put together a kit. I explained the kind of software I'd be
using and that I'd be running Ubuntu. The associate picked out the
motherboard, CPU, heat sink, power supply, memory based on my criteria.
To this day it runs great and I later added a graphics card (again
based on MC associate recommendation) and I've had no problems
whatsover.

minus hard drives / DVD drive and network card I carried over from
previous PC I spent $350. The specs are way dated now (core 2 duo
32-but) but at the time it was a better machine than a power spec in
comparable price range.

I also feel parts carry-over is a big plus.

hi,

Are there any other brands similar to that?  Has anyone has
expererience with Costo's CyberPower?

I've had bad experience with building a PC from parts because so I want
to avoid that and ofcourse I want to avoid a Mac (which my girlfriend
insists I have)

Actually, I think the best wisdom on grease is to apply the least amount
possible.   The best thermal contact is metal-to-metal.  The grease simply
fills whatever micro-voids there may be due to sanding and surface
irregularities.   Grease is a better conductor than the air gap that it
replaces, but whenever possible, you want to have direct contact between the
processor and the heat sink.

The  real trick is to spread the grease as evenly and thinly as possible,
which is not always easy due to the high viscosity of the grease.  I've found
this  tricky, but not especially difficult for a guy like me who can't even
paint a bedroom wall without getting drips everywhere.

Also, remember the grease is usually electrically conductive, so you don't
want it anywhere else than the processor.

What recommendations do list members have for boxen that have a very low
space and power footprint that can stream video?  It seems this is not
easily done with the Raspberry Pi.   What other small Linuxian devices
could be recommended? Thanks.

Bill

Motherboard + CPU assembled product. Is there another place where I can get
this?
