[PLUG] [plug-announce] Wednesday, June 4, 2014: PLUG Central - "An Introduction to Riak: A Distributed Key/Value Store and More" by Hector Castro

PLUG Central will be meeting on Wednesday, June 4, at USP in
Philadelpha, beginning at 7pm. Directions to the meeting location
at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia can be found at
the end of this email.

This month, PLUG welcomes, Hector Castro of Basho, who will be giving a
talk entitled "An Introduction to Riak: A Distributed Key/Value Store
and More"

Abstract:

Riak is an incrementally scalable, masterless, and highly-available
key/value store. In the upcoming 2.0 release, Riak will also include
data types, strong consistency, and a much-improved full-text search.

We'll start by describing what Riak is, and how it differs from
traditional database systems. From there, we'll dig into its new/unique
capabilities to learn how those capabilities help differentiate it from
  other non-relational/distributed data stores.

  (Q/A is highly encouraged.)
