I normally turn off location services unless I'm actively using GPS for maps. Learned that lesson last year when I learned that SoundHound was geotagging my requests, and as a result my Ingress play has fallen off precipitously.

Also, goog's motto was never "do no evil", it was "Don't be evil." Cf. "don't fuck up" vs "don't be a fuckup."

according to this, Google Maps is on, tracking your location, even if you uninstall it. 'Fix' is to turn off GPS and use it only if/when you need it.
