Yes, local accounts still work. They are controlled and prioritized via /etc/nsswitch.conf.

e.g.

passwd: files ldap
shadow: files ldap
group: files ldap

The system checks files (/etc/passwd and /etc/shadow) first, then if not found looks to ldap. This could also be sssd, nis, etc.

But, local *NIX user/passwords are still honored on each box, correct?
Meaning, root or youasadmin can be locally authenticated.
