Ok.  Maybe I need more context but that one doesn't make sense to me.  You might want to pull it or perhaps do a more generic search on why people compile code- I don't want to be the only one in your ear on that point :D

I wasn't sure about that either with the split directories. The source was the book I'm reading: PostgreSQL Administration Essentials, by Hans-Jurgen Schonig. I tried a screen shot attachment, but it was held for moderation, which I canceled.

I don't know about that one- you have a source?  Usually you compile code to control feature sets and to have the most optimized build so that the programs run as efficiently as possible based on the detected CPU.  Packages in repositories are compiled with less CPU (i.e. i686 these days I think) optimizations so that  the binaries will work in the most places.

Other than- it looks good. Plenty of example material it looks like too.
