Already happened.

It's like those who actually depend on massive service providers for
shit like DNS to even public git repository hosting always look for
another entity to put their problems on and ultimately blame when shit
hits the fan. Granted, other entities may specialise in (or are just
plain better at) doing DNS or email or whatever, but the internet as
intended was not meant to be centralised.
