[PLUG] [plug-announce] Mon, Sep 17: PLUG West - "Echo [Terminal] 23, Watching Terminals for Fun and Profit" by Charles Hathaway

The Philadelphia Area Linux Users Group (PLUG) cordially invites you
to a PLUG West meeting on Monday, September 17 at ATS in Malvern, PA
from 7-9 pm.

This month, PLUG West welcomes Charles Hathaway, who will be
giving a talk entitled "Echo [Terminal] 23, Watching Terminals
for Fun and Profit". Charles has previously given a version of
this talk at PLUG Central.

In this talk, Charles will give a demonstration of how to write
a program that logs terminal interactions and plays them back
later (similar to the 'script' and 'scriptreplay' commands.

The disucssion will be aimed at the regular Linux user...you
don't need to be a kernel or systems programmer! This talk will
include an overview of some of "lower-level" concepts (tty's,
file descriptors and how they tie together, strace and system
calls, etc.).

Interested in Linux, BSD, and Free Software? Whether you're already an
enthusiast or want to learn more, come and join us! PLUG meetings are
free and open to everyone, and anyone who is curious is invited to
attend.

The meeting will be at the ATS office in Malvern, PA:

ATS Group & IBM Innovation Center
  1200 Atwater Drive, Suite 170
  Malvern, Pennsylvania 19355
