Re: [PLUG] How to Store Video Files for 25 Years - Zappa

in a semi-related left turn, the Zappa Estate is going through an absolutely frightening amount of audio and video data in a frightening amount of formats. There is everything from silent 8mm video to 2" multitrack tapes that are decomposing (like Frank - sorry), to proprietary formats (Synclavier). They are working through vaults of stuff, trying to get it stable and converted (to whatever they're converting it to).

Alex Winter (Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure) is putting together a documentary via a successful Kickstarter. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/alexwinter/frank-zappa

Hopefully there's something useful in here.
If nothing else, it's fascinating. No news on it, but they probably found linux boxes all over the place. He did things his own way.
